Communication and Creativity - Essential Tools for These Changing Times, presented by Al Condeluci, Ph.D., Oak Lawn

Date: 10/6/2010
Time: 8:00:00 AM
From The Arc of Illinois. We find ourselves in fast-paced times with funding challenges and dwindling resources. Further, we are finding that the challenge of inclusion is pushing us to find new ways to support and serve folks with increasingly complex disabilities. This informative session will explore the two most important tools for success with this enhanced challenge — communication and creativity. We will explore not only the content of communications and creativity as concepts but also will focus on strategies and actions to enhance our skills and abilities as we look to build a community where each belongs. Al Condeluci has been an advocate and catalyst for building community capacities and understanding culture since 1970. Al received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University, his Masters in Social Work and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Since 1973, he has worked as an attendant, caseworker, advocate, planner, program director and now, CEO of his organization, UCP/CLASS. UCP/CLASS has created a family of corporations and is dedicated to its mission - “working towards a community where each belongs.” UCP/CLASS, under Al’s leadership, has grown to become the 3rd largest disability-specific agency in Western PA with a budget of $32 million and a staff and payroll complement of 700. Through Al’s efforts, UCP/CLASS is “empowering people…building communities.” Since 1975 Al has emerged as a national leader and consultant on human services and community issues. He speaks annually to national and international audiences reaching some 15,000 people each year. His books have won praise and awards for their thoughtful approach to culture and community and are now used at many colleges, universities and inservice settings. Al is back on a new topic by popular demand! Don't miss this opportunity to learn from a national leader!
