In this interactive session, participants will learn practical ways of supporting students with autism spectrum labels & other disabilities. Topics addressed include defining (and redefining) autism, listening to the voices of autistic children, and seeing inclusion as a process. Practical strategies will be provided including several relating to communication and social skill development (e.g., gaze avoidance), teaching to special interests, and movement. This session is specifically focused on rethinking—rethinking inclusion, rethinking autism, and rethinking possibilities for all students.
